Transfers. Again the AC and B sheets can be downloaded from the website. Send the AC form with "Mr Smith's" details to me with a cheque for £5 payable to "MRHA". Send the B form to "Mr Smith's" former club for them to fill in and return to me. I have a friend in a Warwickshire club who always sends a nice letter with the B form asking if there are any problems (usually payment of subs, return of kit etc) could they let him know. It seems to work. His transfers usually go very smoothly. From 1st September to 31st January, apart from the New Year holiday period, I will put the completed transfers on the website within six hours of their completion. To check them go to "rules" then "transfers 2006/7". If the transfer you are waiting for is not there don't phone me because I will not have received the B form. Phone the player's former club to find out what the hold up is.
Take a long hard look at Rule 9. If he played in the league for a Midland club, including Aldridge and Malvern last year, he needs a transfer. If, once the season has started a player arrives who has played in another league in the UK in 2006/7 I need to know 7 days before he plays for you. If he played for a university and has now left the university he is a free agent and does not need a transfer.
Confirm (See Rule 16) your fixture with your opponents 8-14 days before the match giving push back time, venue, directions, post match refreshment details etc. It is better to do this by email or letter rather than by phone, do not leave messages on answer machines.
Match Sheets (See Rule 18). Download from the website. After the match it must be signed by both captains/managers and both umpires. The home captain has the responsibility to post home and away match sheets to catch Monday's post at the latest. 1st X1 home captains must also phone results to Russells by 5.00pm. Midland Premier and Midland Div 1 by 4.30pm and 1st XI's email Russells nicola-russell @ rfumidlands.demon.co.uk with the result and names of their goal scorers by noon on Tuesday.
Results/tables. These should be on the website by Saturday evening for 1st X1s and
on Wednesday/Thursday for 2nd, 3rd and Central X1s.
Fixture Cards. As many clubs no longer produce these we are not asking for cards to Russells/Div Secs etc.
Red/Yellow Cards. MRHA Council has again asked us to monitor teams' records after 7, 15 and 22 matches, and take action (warning letters/loss of points/fines) as the League Committee deems necessary.
Teams. Aldridge and Malvern withdrew from the league in June which caused a slight
delay in the production of the fixtures, but thanks to Chris Forde and Michael Hooper they were
on the website by 2nd July. The withdrawals have left the East/West split in the 1st X1 League
a bit lop-sided and means that in EMP, WMP and WM1 three teams will be relegated.
Welbeck College's term dates, half terms and exeat weekends prevented them from joining
us but we welcome back two former clubs, Oswestry and Ashbourne together with a raft of
new teams that has increased the Central League to 11 divisions and brought in new divisional
secretaries Paul Simmonds, Leigh Alcock and Martin Hall.
I hope that you and your club have a happy and successful season; to this end will you; -
Peter Cranswick Hon Sec. - September 2006

RULE CHANGES 2006-2007 FROM ENGLAND HOCKEY WEBSITE
The following is an extract from England Hockey website News for August 2006.
Rule change reminder
Date Posted : 31/8/2006
Check your stick NOW!
All players and clubs are reminded that the stick bow rule that was introduced to international hockey
in January 06 (published to the England Hockey website and publications from June 05 onwards)
was introduced to ALL hockey at all levels on 1st June 2006. It is essential that you check
your playing stick and ensure that the bow does not exceed 25mm. If it is more than 25mm it
will be confiscated if checked.
How do you measure it?
Lay the stick face down on a flat and level surface (e.g. a table on a level floor) and measure
the gap (at the deepest point) from the edge / underside of the stick to the table.
If the space is in excess of 25mm, it’s time to think about replacing the stick with a newer model.
Umpires or match officials can check sticks at any game, at any level, so please be prepared. If you or your club would like to buy a stick bow measure please follow this link to the England Hockey technical pages, scroll down to page 4 and download a copy of the order form.
